This role is crucial for Career.zycto’s operational excellence, ensuring timely and secure delivery of goods across Stony Hill and broader St. Andrew. As our dedicated Driver – Logistics & Delivery specialist, you will be entrusted with a company vehicle, playing a vital part in our supply chain. Key Responsibilities
- Operate a company vehicle safely and efficiently for the delivery of goods to various locations within Stony Hill and St. Andrew.
- Verify accuracy of cargo against delivery manifests before departure and upon arrival.
- Load and unload items carefully, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage.
- Plan and execute the most efficient delivery routes using navigation tools and local knowledge.
- Perform routine pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the company vehicle, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, including mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery times.
- Communicate proactively with dispatch and customers regarding delivery status, potential delays, or unforeseen circumstances.
- Adhere strictly to all Jamaican traffic laws, company safety regulations, and ethical driving practices.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, representing Career.zycto professionally and courteously.
- Assist with warehouse duties, such as organizing inventory, packing, or preparing shipments, when not on delivery routes.
Required Skills
- Valid General Driver's License (Class B or equivalent for light commercial vehicles in Jamaica).
- Clean driving record with no major traffic violations.
- Proven experience (minimum 2 years) as a delivery driver or in a similar logistics and transportation role.
- Excellent knowledge of roads, traffic patterns, and efficient routes within Stony Hill and the broader St. Andrew Parish.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs) and perform physical tasks associated with loading/unloading.
- Strong time management and organizational skills to ensure timely deliveries.
- Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with colleagues and customers.
- High level of reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail.
- Ability to operate GPS devices and understand basic digital mapping applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in defensive driving.
- Experience with logistics software or route optimization applications.
