Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct personal care, including assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, and mobility, always upholding residents' dignity and independence.
  • Administer prescribed medication in accordance with company policies and relevant training, accurately recording dosages and observations.
  • Monitor residents' health and well-being, observing for changes in condition, and reporting any concerns promptly to the Nurse in Charge or Manager.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and review of individual care plans, ensuring they are person-centred and reflective of residents' needs.
  • Lead and supervise junior care staff, offering guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure high standards of care delivery.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date care records, incident reports, and other documentation.
  • Support residents in participating in social activities, promoting their engagement and mental stimulation.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, their families, and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all residents.
  • Participate in all mandatory and additional training sessions as provided.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a care assistant role, preferably within a residential or nursing home setting.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent qualification).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and empathetic approach.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and demonstrate leadership qualities.
  • Proficiency in accurately documenting care records and observations.
  • Sound understanding of safeguarding vulnerable adults and health and safety protocols.
  • Ability to administer medication safely and accurately (training provided for refreshers/updates if needed).

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or working towards it).
  • Previous experience in a senior or supervisory care role.
  • Up-to-date first aid certification.
  • Specific training in areas such as dementia care, challenging behaviour, or palliative care.
