Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct personal care, including assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, and mobility, always upholding residents' dignity and independence.
- Administer prescribed medication in accordance with company policies and relevant training, accurately recording dosages and observations.
- Monitor residents' health and well-being, observing for changes in condition, and reporting any concerns promptly to the Nurse in Charge or Manager.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and review of individual care plans, ensuring they are person-centred and reflective of residents' needs.
- Lead and supervise junior care staff, offering guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure high standards of care delivery.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date care records, incident reports, and other documentation.
- Support residents in participating in social activities, promoting their engagement and mental stimulation.
- Communicate effectively with residents, their families, and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all residents.
- Participate in all mandatory and additional training sessions as provided.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a care assistant role, preferably within a residential or nursing home setting.
- NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent qualification).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and empathetic approach.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and demonstrate leadership qualities.
- Proficiency in accurately documenting care records and observations.
- Sound understanding of safeguarding vulnerable adults and health and safety protocols.
- Ability to administer medication safely and accurately (training provided for refreshers/updates if needed).
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or working towards it).
- Previous experience in a senior or supervisory care role.
- Up-to-date first aid certification.
- Specific training in areas such as dementia care, challenging behaviour, or palliative care.
