Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly vigilant and professional CCTV Operator to join our client’s dedicated security team in Dennistoun, Glasgow. This pivotal role involves 24/7 monitoring of complex surveillance systems, ensuring the safety and security of premises, assets, and personnel. As a CCTV Operator, you will be the eyes and ears of our security operation, playing a critical role in incident prevention, detection, and response.

Your day-to-day will involve constant, proactive surveillance of multiple camera feeds, diligently watching for any suspicious activity, security breaches, or potential threats. You will be responsible for accurately logging all incidents, observations, and actions taken, adhering strictly to established protocols and data protection regulations. This role demands a calm demeanour under pressure, quick decision-making, and the ability to effectively communicate with on-site security teams, emergency services, and management. You will utilise state-of-the-art surveillance technology, including advanced analytics and alarm systems, to enhance your monitoring capabilities. A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity of all monitored information is paramount. This is more than just watching screens; it’s about being an integral part of a sophisticated security network, contributing directly to a safe and secure environment for everyone.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor CCTV systems, ensuring continuous surveillance of assigned areas.
  • Identify and report any suspicious activities, security breaches, or emergencies promptly.
  • Document all incidents, observations, and actions taken accurately and comprehensively in logs.
  • Liaise effectively with on-site security personnel, management, and emergency services during incidents.
  • Adhere strictly to all company policies, procedures, and data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR).
  • Conduct regular checks of CCTV equipment to ensure optimal functionality and report any faults.
  • Assist in the review and retrieval of CCTV footage for investigations as required.
  • Maintain a high level of situational awareness and proactively identify potential risks.
  • Respond calmly and professionally to high-pressure situations, following established protocols.
  • Provide clear, concise, and timely verbal and written reports.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a CCTV Operator in a professional environment.
  • Demonstrable experience with modern CCTV monitoring software and hardware.
  • Excellent observational skills with a keen eye for detail and identifying anomalies.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective reporting and liaison.
  • Ability to remain focused and vigilant for extended periods.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (MS Office Suite, email).
  • Proven ability to work effectively under pressure and respond to critical incidents.
  • A full understanding of data protection principles, particularly regarding surveillance footage.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SIA CCTV licence (Public Space Surveillance) is highly desirable.
  • First Aid at Work certification.
  • Experience with alarm monitoring and access control systems.
  • Previous experience in a control room or command centre environment.
  • Familiarity with local Glasgow area and potential security challenges.
