Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and meticulous Storekeeper to join our team in Isiolo, Isiolo County. This pivotal role involves the efficient and accurate management of humanitarian aid, relief supplies, and other organizational assets within our warehouse facilities. The Storekeeper will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of inventory – from receiving and inspection to secure storage, accurate record-keeping, and timely dispatch. This position is crucial in ensuring that vital supplies reach beneficiaries promptly and without loss, directly supporting the Kenya Red Cross Society’s mission to alleviate human suffering. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to humanitarian principles, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic and occasionally high-pressure environment. You will play a key role in maintaining an organized, safe, and efficient warehouse operation, contributing significantly to our operational effectiveness and impact in the community. This role demands a proactive individual who can meticulously manage stock, implement best practices for inventory control, and work collaboratively with various teams to ensure seamless supply chain operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming goods against purchase orders or dispatch notes, noting any discrepancies or damages.
- Accurately record all incoming and outgoing inventory movements using established inventory management systems (manual and/or digital).
- Organize and store items in designated locations within the warehouse, ensuring proper shelving, labeling, and accessibility.
- Maintain high standards of warehouse cleanliness, orderliness, and safety in accordance with KRCS policies and health & safety regulations.
- Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile with system records, identifying and investigating variances.
- Prepare and pack goods for dispatch, ensuring proper documentation and coordination with logistics and transport teams.
- Monitor stock levels, identify potential shortages or overstocks, and communicate needs to relevant departments.
- Safeguard warehouse assets and ensure proper security measures are in place to prevent theft or damage.
- Generate regular inventory reports on stock movement, levels, and discrepancies for management review.
- Operate basic warehouse equipment (e.g., pallet jacks) safely and efficiently, if required.
- Assist in the loading and unloading of vehicles as needed.
- Adhere strictly to all KRCS standard operating procedures (SOPs) for warehouse management.
Required Skills
- Minimum of a Certificate or Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, or a related field.
- Proven experience (at least 2 years) in a storekeeping, warehouse, or inventory management role.
- Strong understanding of inventory control principles and warehouse operations best practices.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications, especially Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, carrying, and arranging stock.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Demonstrated integrity and honesty in handling organizational assets.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system or Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Knowledge of humanitarian logistics and supply chain processes.
- A valid driving license (Class BCE or similar) is an added advantage.
- Familiarity with first aid and basic safety procedures in a warehouse environment.
