Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and experienced Gardener to join our thriving landscaping and grounds care team in Cathcart, Glasgow. Key Responsibilities
- Perform all aspects of garden and grounds maintenance, including mowing, strimming, edging, pruning, weeding, and watering.
- Plant, cultivate, and maintain a variety of trees, shrubs, flowers, and groundcover, selecting appropriate species for specific conditions.
- Operate and maintain a range of horticultural machinery and equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., mowers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, chainsaws where certified).
- Monitor plant health, identify common pests and diseases, and apply appropriate treatments or preventative measures.
- Undertake seasonal tasks such as leaf clearance, winter protection, and spring preparation.
- Ensure all work is carried out to high quality standards, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times.
- Contribute to landscape enhancement projects, including planting schemes, minor construction (e.g., path repairs, raised beds), and site tidying.
- Interact professionally with clients and the public when working on-site, representing Career.zycto's values.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment, including vehicles and equipment.
- Accurately record daily tasks, material usage, and report any issues or concerns to the team leader.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Gardener or in a similar landscaping/grounds care role.
- Comprehensive knowledge of plant identification, horticulture practices, and seasonal garden care.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining a variety of garden machinery and hand tools.
- Strong understanding of health and safety practices relevant to gardening and outdoor work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating reliability and a proactive attitude.
- Excellent physical fitness and stamina, capable of performing demanding outdoor tasks in all weather conditions.
- Full UK driving licence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Horticultural qualification (e.g., SVQ, NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Horticulture).
- PA1/PA6 certification for pesticide application.
- Chainsaw certification (CS30/31 or equivalent).
- Experience with irrigation systems.
- First Aid at Work certification.
- Previous experience working on diverse commercial and residential landscapes.
