In this vital role, you will be responsible for the comprehensive installation, maintenance, and repair of various heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. Our client operates across a diverse portfolio, including commercial buildings, residential complexes, and industrial facilities. You’ll work with a range of equipment, from split units and VRF systems to chillers and air handling units. We are looking for someone who is not only technically proficient but also possesses excellent diagnostic capabilities, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems and components (e.g., compressors, motors, fans, pumps, thermostats, humidistats, and associated piping and electrical systems).
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues in HVAC equipment using specialized tools and diagnostic software.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and service calls on a scheduled basis, identifying potential problems and recommending corrective actions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to ensure accurate installation and repair work.
  • Charge and reclaim refrigerants in accordance with environmental regulations and best practices.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with local codes, safety regulations, and company standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed, including parts used and hours expended.
  • Provide clear and concise communication with clients regarding service issues, solutions, and maintenance recommendations.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for emergency service outside of regular business hours as required.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior technicians or apprentices.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as an HVAC Technician with strong skills in installation and repair.
  • Valid technical certification or diploma in HVAC/Refrigeration technology.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults in HVAC systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Thorough understanding of HVAC system components, functions, and operational sequences.
  • Knowledge of local building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards related to HVAC.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Valid Kenyan driving license and a clean driving record.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or Higher Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Plant Option) or equivalent.
  • Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and smart HVAC controls.
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency principles and sustainable HVAC solutions.
  • EPA certification or equivalent for refrigerant handling.
  • First Aid and Safety certification.
