Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, leveling, and applying appropriate waterproofing or leveling compounds.
- Cut and shape tiles to fit around obstacles and into corners and edges using specialized tools.
- Layout tiles accurately to ensure patterns are centered and aesthetically pleasing.
- Apply adhesive (mortar or mastic) to surfaces and tiles, ensuring proper coverage.
- Install tiles firmly, ensuring they are level, properly spaced, and aligned.
- Grout and clean tiled surfaces, ensuring a smooth, uniform, and water-resistant finish.
- Inspect finished work for quality, correcting any imperfections promptly.
- Adhere to safety standards and building codes at all times.
- Collaborate with project managers, clients, and other tradespersons to ensure project timelines and quality standards are met.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in ceramic, porcelain, mosaic, and natural stone tiling.
- Excellent understanding of surface preparation techniques.
- Proficiency in using tiling tools such as tile cutters, grinders, trowels, levels, and spacers.
- Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetic alignment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and design specifications.
- Knowledge of various adhesives, grouts, and sealants.
- Physical stamina and dexterity for handling materials and working in various positions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in tiling or a related construction trade.
- Experience with waterproofing systems in wet areas.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing systems, particularly for bathroom/kitchen fixtures.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various job sites.
- First Aid certification.
