Key Responsibilities

  • Consult with clients to determine event objectives, requirements, and budget for both wedding and corporate events.
  • Develop comprehensive event proposals, including detailed timelines, venue options, vendor recommendations, and creative concepts.
  • Manage all aspects of event logistics, from venue scouting and contract negotiation to vendor coordination (catering, decor, entertainment, photography, etc.).
  • Create detailed event layouts, seating plans, and production schedules.
  • Oversee on-site event setup, execution, and breakdown, ensuring seamless operation and adherence to the client's vision.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients and vendors throughout the planning process and during the event.
  • Implement effective budget management, tracking expenses to ensure profitability and client satisfaction.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations, gathering feedback and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Stay current with event planning trends, technologies, and local vendor offerings in Old Harbour Bay and surrounding areas.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 2.5 years (30 months) of professional experience in event planning, with a portfolio showcasing both wedding and corporate events.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, negotiate contracts, and secure favourable terms with vendors.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the capacity to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in event management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Creative flair and an innovative approach to event design and problem-solving.
  • Deep understanding of the event industry standards and best practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative freelance network.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Certification in Event Management (e.g., CSEP, CMP).
  • Established network of local vendors and venues within Old Harbour Bay and St. Catherine.
  • Experience with destination event planning or unique cultural events.
  • Fluency in additional languages beyond English.
