Key Responsibilities

  • Provide efficient chairside assistance to dentists and hygienists during a variety of dental procedures, including examinations, fillings, extractions, root canals, and advanced surgical treatments.
  • Prepare and maintain dental instruments, materials, and equipment, ensuring all items are properly sterilised, organised, and ready for use.
  • Accurately update and manage patient records, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to data protection regulations.
  • Assist with patient reception, scheduling appointments, and handling administrative tasks as required.
  • Educate patients on post-operative care, oral hygiene techniques, and treatment plans.
  • Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols and health and safety guidelines within the dental practice.
  • Order and manage dental supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels and proper storage.
  • Prepare impressions, models, and other dental appliances under the direction of the dentist.
  • Provide compassionate and reassuring support to patients, particularly those who may be anxious.
  • Collaborate effectively with all team members to ensure smooth clinic operations and exceptional patient experience.

Required Skills

  • GDC registration (Dental Nurse qualification)
  • Minimum of 1.5 years experience as a Dental Assistant/Nurse, preferably with experience in surgical procedures.
  • Proficiency in dental software and digital radiography.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of cross-infection control and health and safety guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional qualifications in radiography, sedation, or oral health education.
  • Experience with specialist dental software (e.g., SOE Exact, Dentally).
  • First Aid certification.
  • Prior experience in a mixed NHS and private practice setting.
