Key Responsibilities
- Manage, monitor, and maintain server hardware and software across Windows and/or Linux environments.
- Ensure the security, integrity, and availability of all data and systems through diligent backup procedures, patch management, and regular security audits.
- Administer and optimize network infrastructure components, including firewalls, routers, switches, and VPNs.
- Provide expert-level technical support and troubleshooting for system-related issues, escalating complex problems to senior engineers when necessary.
- Implement, configure, and maintain virtualized environments using platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls within Active Directory or other identity management systems.
- Monitor system performance and resource utilization, proactively identifying and resolving potential bottlenecks or performance degradation.
- Document thoroughly all system configurations, operational procedures, and troubleshooting steps to maintain comprehensive knowledge bases.
- Actively participate in IT projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and the integration of new technologies.
- Collaborate effectively with development and other IT teams to ensure smooth application deployments and seamless integrations.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Windows Server OS (e.g., 2016, 2019, 2022) and/or common Linux distributions (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS, Red Hat).
- Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs, routing).
- Proven experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware ESXi, Hyper-V).
- Solid knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy management, and user authentication systems.
- Familiarity with comprehensive backup and disaster recovery strategies and tools.
- Experience with system monitoring tools (e.g., Zabbix, Nagios, Prometheus).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related technical field.
- Relevant industry certifications such as MCSA, MCSE, CCNA, LPI, CompTIA Server+, or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience with major cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform).
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python) for automation tasks.
- Basic knowledge of database administration (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
- Experience with IT security best practices, methodologies, and related tools (e.g., SIEM, endpoint protection).
- Fluency in German is highly advantageous for local communication and collaboration.
