Key Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of diagnostic imaging procedures, including X-ray, CT, MRI, and potentially other modalities, to the highest professional standards.
- Ensure patient safety, comfort, and well-being throughout all imaging procedures, adhering strictly to radiation protection guidelines.
- Operate and maintain advanced radiologic equipment, conducting routine checks and identifying potential issues.
- Accurately position patients for imaging examinations, ensuring optimal image quality and minimal repeat scans.
- Verify patient identity, medical history, and physician orders to ensure correct procedures are performed.
- Maintain meticulous patient records and documentation of imaging procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare team members to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Participate in quality assurance programs and continuous professional development initiatives.
- Provide clear explanations of procedures to patients, addressing their concerns and ensuring informed consent.
- Adhere to all local and national healthcare regulations and professional standards.
Required Skills
- BSc (Hons) in Radiography or equivalent.
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience as a Radiographer.
- Proficiency in operating X-ray, CT, and MRI equipment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure.
- Demonstrated commitment to patient care and safety.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualification or specialist certification in a specific imaging modality (e.g., MRI, CT).
- Experience with PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) and RIS (Radiology Information System).
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification.
- Experience in an acute hospital or large diagnostic centre environment.
