Key Responsibilities
- Complete and pass comprehensive paid CDL training, including all written and practical examinations, to become a certified Bus Driver.
- Operate passenger buses safely and efficiently over designated routes and schedules, adhering strictly to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Provide excellent customer service to all passengers, including assisting with boarding and alighting, answering questions, and maintaining a welcoming environment.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, reporting any mechanical defects or safety concerns promptly.
- Collect fares, issue transfers, and maintain accurate passenger counts as required.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and other team members regarding schedule changes, incidents, or passenger needs.
- Ensure the cleanliness and presentability of the bus during shifts.
- Respond calmly and professionally to emergency situations, following established safety protocols and procedures.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal transportation regulations.
Required Skills
- Valid state-issued Driver's License (non-CDL) with a clean driving record for at least three consecutive years prior to application.
- Ability to pass a mandatory background check, drug screen, and DOT physical examination.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer service-oriented approach.
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to strict operational guidelines.
- Punctuality and reliability are essential for maintaining service schedules.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous experience in a customer service role or a role requiring public interaction.
- Familiarity with the Gainesville area street network and local geography.
