Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine dimensions, layouts, and specifications.
- Measure, cut, bend, punch, and weld sheet metal components using various hand tools, power tools, and machinery (e.g., shears, brakes, rolls, presses, welding equipment).
- Fabricate and assemble metal products, structures, and parts, ensuring adherence to quality standards and project timelines.
- Inspect finished products for defects, ensuring they meet design specifications and industry codes.
- Operate and maintain a variety of sheet metal equipment, including CNC machines, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
- Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment, troubleshooting minor issues as needed.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to optimize fabrication processes and resolve technical challenges.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and company policies, maintaining a clean and organized work area.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, suggesting enhancements to processes and procedures.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Sheet Metal Worker or similar role in metal fabrication.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Demonstrated ability to use a wide range of hand tools, power tools, and sheet metal fabrication machinery.
- Competency in various welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, ARC) relevant to sheet metal.
- Strong understanding of metal properties, gauges, and fabrication methods.
- Excellent spatial reasoning and mathematical skills for precise measurements and calculations.
- Commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
- High degree of attention to detail and precision in workmanship.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to handle materials and operate equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational training or apprenticeship in sheet metal fabrication or a related field.
- Certification in specific welding techniques (e.g., AWS, DVS).
- Experience with CNC sheet metal machinery operation and programming.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software for fabrication processes.
