Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and implementing engaging, age-appropriate activities that promote children's physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Supervise children during playtime, educational activities, meal times, and nap times, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Support lead practitioners in maintaining a clean, organised, and stimulating learning environment.
  • Assist with personal care routines, including feeding, changing nappies, and promoting good hygiene practices.
  • Observe and report on children's progress, behaviour, and any concerns to senior staff.
  • Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues through effective communication.
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance professional skills and knowledge.
  • Adhere to all safeguarding policies, health and safety regulations, and nursery procedures.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrable passion for working with children.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Basic understanding of child development stages.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare, Early Years Education, or a related field.
  • Previous experience working in a nursery, school, or childcare setting.
  • Up-to-date First Aid certification (Paediatric First Aid highly desirable).
  • Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
