Job Description

As a Speech Therapy Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our qualified Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs) in delivering high-quality care to a diverse client base, including children and adults. Your work will directly contribute to improving the communication abilities and overall quality of life for individuals facing speech, language, communication, and swallowing difficulties. This is a hands-on position where you will assist with therapy sessions, prepare resources, observe and document client progress, and engage directly with clients under the guidance of an experienced SLT. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs) during therapy sessions for both children and adults.
  • Prepare and organise therapy materials, resources, and equipment for individual and group sessions.
  • Implement therapy programmes as directed by an SLT, including practicing exercises and activities with clients.
  • Observe and accurately document client progress, behaviour, and responses during therapy sessions.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and engaging therapy environment.
  • Support clients and their families, providing encouragement and information as appropriate.
  • Undertake general administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments, managing records, and preparing reports.
  • Liaise effectively with SLTs, other healthcare professionals, and administrative staff.
  • Participate actively in supervision sessions and professional development opportunities provided.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and professional standards, including safeguarding and confidentiality.

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics at grade C/4 or above.
  • Previous experience in a care, education, or support worker role (voluntary or paid).
  • Knowledge of basic first aid.
  • Familiarity with the healthcare sector or an interest in human anatomy/physiology.
  • An understanding of British Sign Language (BSL) or other communication aids.
