Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Hospital Attendant to join our dynamic team on a full-time basis, specifically supporting our ward operations. In this crucial role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the comfort, safety, and well-being of our patients, playing a vital part in their recovery journey. As a Hospital Attendant, you will work closely with nursing staff, doctors, and other healthcare professionals to maintain a clean, organized, and supportive environment on the hospital wards. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve assisting patients with their daily needs, including personal hygiene, mobility, and meal times, always with dignity and respect. You will also be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of patient rooms and common areas, ensuring that all necessary supplies are readily available. Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene (bathing, grooming), dressing, and toileting, while maintaining their dignity and privacy.
- Help patients with mobility, transferring them between beds, wheelchairs, and stretchers, and assisting with ambulation as required.
- Serve meals and assist patients with feeding, ensuring dietary restrictions are observed and reporting any concerns regarding appetite or intake.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of patient rooms, common areas, and utility rooms, including changing linens and tidying up.
- Monitor and report any changes in patients' condition, behavior, or comfort levels to the nursing staff immediately.
- Transport patients within the hospital for tests, procedures, or transfers, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Assist nurses with basic patient care tasks, such as taking vital signs (under supervision) or collecting specimens.
- Replenish medical and cleaning supplies on the ward, ensuring adequate stock levels.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, responding to their requests promptly and kindly.
- Adhere strictly to all hospital policies, procedures, and infection control protocols.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient-focused approach.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong sense of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for reading instructions and recording simple information.
- Physical stamina and strength to assist patients with mobility and perform duties requiring standing, walking, lifting, and bending.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (at least 6 months) as a Hospital Attendant, Healthcare Assistant, or in a similar caregiving role.
- Certification in First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Familiarity with hospital procedures and patient safety protocols.
- Vocational training or certification in healthcare support or patient care.
- Proficiency in both English and French.
