This is a vital full-time role where you will be entrusted with operating a company-provided vehicle to transport goods and packages to various destinations, ensuring timely and secure delivery. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a company-provided vehicle for the transportation and delivery of goods, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Plan and execute efficient delivery routes, considering traffic, road conditions, and delivery schedules.
- Load and unload goods, ensuring proper handling, securing of items, and careful stacking to prevent damage.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any maintenance issues or defects promptly.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, records of goods delivered/returned, and precise vehicle mileage.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, interacting professionally and courteously with clients and colleagues.
- Handle all delivery documentation, including invoices, manifests, and proof of delivery, with precision and ensure all necessary signatures are obtained.
- Assist with basic warehouse duties, such as organizing inventory or preparing shipments, as required.
- Ensure the cleanliness and presentability of the company vehicle at all times.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and procedures, including proper lifting techniques and vehicle operation guidelines.
Required Skills
- Valid General Driver's License (Class B/C or equivalent for commercial vehicles in Jamaica).
- Proven safe driving record with no major violations or accidents.
- Strong knowledge of local routes and geography in St. Ann and surrounding parishes.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to lift and move heavy packages (up to 50 lbs) regularly and safely.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with clients and team members.
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge and troubleshooting abilities for minor issues.
- High degree of punctuality, reliability, and responsibility.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 2-3 years of professional driving experience in a logistics, delivery, or commercial transport setting.
- Experience operating different types of commercial vehicles (e.g., panel vans, small trucks).
- Defensive driving certification or completion of a recognized driver safety course.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route optimization software.
- High school diploma or equivalent secondary education.
