Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Broadcast Technician to join our dynamic technical operations team in Hanover. As a key player in our media delivery infrastructure, you will be instrumental in ensuring the seamless, high-quality transmission of our diverse range of content across multiple platforms. This full-time, on-site role requires a proactive individual with a deep understanding of broadcast systems, a meticulous eye for detail, and a passion for upholding the highest technical standards.

In this challenging yet rewarding position, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of all broadcast equipment, ranging from cameras, mixers, and audio consoles to transmission encoders, video servers, and routing systems. Your daily tasks will involve performing preventive maintenance checks, diagnosing and repairing equipment malfunctions swiftly to minimize downtime, and collaborating closely with production teams to support live broadcasts, studio recordings, and post-production workflows.

We expect you to maintain accurate records of equipment status, repairs, and inventory, ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal policies. Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, operate, and maintain a wide array of broadcast equipment (cameras, mixers, audio, video servers, graphics, transmission systems).
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance, calibration, and diagnostic tests on all broadcast hardware and software.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly and efficiently, minimizing disruption to live broadcasts and scheduled productions.
  • Provide technical support during live events, studio productions, and remote broadcasts, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Monitor broadcast signals for quality control, adherence to technical standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • Document equipment status, repair histories, maintenance logs, and inventory changes accurately.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and IT teams to facilitate seamless workflows and system integration.
  • Stay current with evolving broadcast technologies, industry trends, and best practices.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of system upgrades and new equipment installations.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in broadcast audio/video equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of signal flow, broadcast standards (SDI, IP, NDI), and codecs.
  • Experience with vision mixers, audio consoles, routing systems, and non-linear editing (NLE) environments.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair complex technical faults quickly under pressure.
  • Familiarity with IP-based broadcast workflows and networking fundamentals.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by production schedules.
  • Relevant vocational training or a degree in Broadcast Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Certifications in broadcast technology (e.g., SMPTE, Dante, NDI).
  • Experience with remote production technologies and cloud-based broadcast solutions.
  • Proficiency in German language (B2 level or higher) for local team collaboration.
  • Previous experience in a major broadcast facility or production house.
