Job Description

We are actively seeking a dedicated and empathetic Night Shift Dementia Care Worker to join our compassionate team in the heart of Clapham, London. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide person-centred care and support to residents living with dementia during night hours, strictly adhering to individual care plans.
  • Assist residents with personal care tasks, including washing, dressing, and toileting, always promoting dignity and independence.
  • Administer medication safely and accurately, in accordance with company policies and relevant regulatory standards.
  • Conduct regular welfare checks and observations throughout the night, monitoring for changes in condition, behaviour, or comfort levels.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to resident calls and emergencies, providing calm and reassuring assistance.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of care provided, observations, and any incidents during your shift.
  • Support residents with mobility and repositioning to prevent pressure sores, ensuring optimal comfort and safety.
  • Engage residents in quiet, calming activities if they are awake and restless, offering companionship and reassurance.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe environment for residents, adhering to all health and safety protocols.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a care setting, preferably with individuals living with dementia.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and empathetic approach.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating reliability and initiative.
  • Strong observational skills and the ability to respond effectively to changing resident needs.
  • Understanding of safeguarding principles and a commitment to promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults.
  • Basic IT literacy for record-keeping and communication.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Specific training in dementia care, such as understanding challenging behaviours or person-centred dementia support.
  • Current First Aid certification.
