Job Description
We are actively seeking a dedicated and empathetic Night Shift Dementia Care Worker to join our compassionate team in the heart of Clapham, London. Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred care and support to residents living with dementia during night hours, strictly adhering to individual care plans.
- Assist residents with personal care tasks, including washing, dressing, and toileting, always promoting dignity and independence.
- Administer medication safely and accurately, in accordance with company policies and relevant regulatory standards.
- Conduct regular welfare checks and observations throughout the night, monitoring for changes in condition, behaviour, or comfort levels.
- Respond promptly and professionally to resident calls and emergencies, providing calm and reassuring assistance.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of care provided, observations, and any incidents during your shift.
- Support residents with mobility and repositioning to prevent pressure sores, ensuring optimal comfort and safety.
- Engage residents in quiet, calming activities if they are awake and restless, offering companionship and reassurance.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe environment for residents, adhering to all health and safety protocols.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a care setting, preferably with individuals living with dementia.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and empathetic approach.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating reliability and initiative.
- Strong observational skills and the ability to respond effectively to changing resident needs.
- Understanding of safeguarding principles and a commitment to promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults.
- Basic IT literacy for record-keeping and communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care, or an equivalent qualification.
- Specific training in dementia care, such as understanding challenging behaviours or person-centred dementia support.
- Current First Aid certification.
