Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Hotel Receptionist to join our vibrant team at Veranda Resorts. As the first point of contact for our valued guests, you will play a pivotal role in shaping their experience from the moment they arrive until their heartfelt departure. Key Responsibilities
- Warmly welcome and register guests upon arrival, ensuring a smooth and efficient check-in process.
- Process guest departures efficiently, handling payments accurately and bidding them a fond farewell.
- Manage room reservations, modifications, and cancellations with precision using the hotel's Property Management System (PMS).
- Respond to guest inquiries and requests promptly and courteously, providing detailed information about hotel services, facilities, and local attractions.
- Handle cash, credit card, and other payment transactions with the utmost honesty and accuracy.
- Maintain a tidy, organized, and professional front desk and lobby area at all times.
- Proactively resolve guest complaints and issues with empathy and professionalism, escalating complex situations to management when necessary.
- Answer all incoming calls, direct them appropriately, and take accurate messages.
- Assist with special requests from guests, such as arranging wake-up calls, transportation, and dining reservations.
- Collaborate seamlessly with other hotel departments (Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Concierge) to ensure exceptional and consistent guest service.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of room availability, hotel promotions, local events, and area points of interest to better assist guests.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 1 year) in a front desk, guest relations, or customer service role, preferably within the hospitality industry.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and French are essential.
- Proficiency in hotel management software (e.g., Opera, Fidelio, or a similar Property Management System).
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a calm, composed demeanor under pressure.
- A naturally warm, friendly, and professional attitude with a genuine passion for guest service.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, as per operational needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- A diploma or certificate in Hospitality Management, Tourism, or a related field.
- Fluency in an additional language (e.g., German, Italian, Mandarin, or Mauritian Creole).
- Familiarity with local Mauritian culture, attractions, and tourism offerings.
- Experience with basic revenue management principles or upselling techniques.
