Key Responsibilities

  • Provide warm and engaging companionship, engaging clients in conversation, activities, and outings as appropriate.
  • Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including personal care such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Support with Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs) including light housekeeping tasks (e.g., tidying up, laundry), meal preparation, and medication reminders.
  • Accompany clients to appointments, social engagements, or errands, ensuring their safety and comfort during transportation.
  • Monitor and report any changes in the client's health, behavior, or living conditions to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment within the client's home.
  • Encourage and support client independence and participation in daily routines.
  • Adhere strictly to client care plans, privacy regulations (HIPAA), and company policies and procedures.
  • Provide emotional support and understanding, helping to alleviate loneliness and isolation.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 6 months) in caregiving, nursing assistance, or a related field, preferably with seniors.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a patient and empathetic approach.
  • Ability to perform basic household tasks and prepare simple, nutritious meals.
  • Reliable and punctual, with a strong sense of responsibility and integrity.
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of Jamaican Patois is an asset.
  • Ability to lift and assist clients with mobility as needed (within safe limits).
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; certification in Home Health Aide (HHA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is a strong advantage.
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
  • Experience working with clients with dementia or Alzheimer's disease.
  • References from previous caregiving roles.
