Job Description

As a Full-Time Ecologist at Career.zycto in Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia, you will play a pivotal role in our mission to integrate ecological principles into human development. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct ecological field surveys, habitat assessments, and species identification.
  • Perform ecological impact assessments (EIA) and prepare technical reports and environmental statements.
  • Develop and implement mitigation, compensation, and enhancement strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with national and international environmental legislation and planning policies.
  • Analyze and interpret ecological data using GIS and statistical software.
  • Provide expert ecological advice to clients, project teams, and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, planners, and landscape architects.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources for ecological deliverables.
  • Contribute to proposals, tenders, and business development initiatives.
  • Participate in public consultations and stakeholder engagement activities.

Required Skills

  • Master's degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Biology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in an ecological consultancy or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of European and German environmental legislation (e.g., BNatSchG, FFH-Richtlinie).
  • Proven experience in ecological field survey techniques and data collection.
  • Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) for mapping and analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and German.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with specific protected species surveys (e.g., bats, birds, amphibians).
  • Familiarity with habitat restoration and creation techniques.
  • Certification in specific ecological survey methods.
