Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Part-Time Physiotherapy Assistant to join our dynamic rehabilitation team at Savanna-la-Mar Public Hospital. Key Responsibilities
- Assist licensed physiotherapists in the delivery of patient care, including setting up and preparing treatment areas and equipment.
- Guide patients through prescribed therapeutic exercises and activities, demonstrating proper techniques and ensuring safety.
- Monitor patients' responses to treatment, observing changes in condition and reporting any concerns or progress to the supervising physiotherapist.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the physiotherapy department, including sterilizing equipment and managing inventory.
- Provide administrative support such as scheduling appointments, documenting patient attendance, and maintaining patient records.
- Educate patients and their families on home exercise programs and the use of adaptive equipment as directed by the physiotherapist.
- Assist with patient transfers and mobility, ensuring proper body mechanics and patient safety at all times.
- Contribute to a positive and encouraging environment for patients, offering motivation and emotional support during therapy sessions.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work effectively within a team.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to assist patients with mobility and handle equipment.
- Demonstrated empathy and compassion towards patients.
- Basic computer literacy for record-keeping and scheduling.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification or diploma from an accredited Physiotherapy Assistant program.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in rehabilitation or a hospital.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
