Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Procurement Officer to join our team in East End Park, Leeds. This pivotal role will be instrumental in managing our supply chain, optimising procurement processes, and fostering strong, strategic relationships with our vendors. As a Procurement Officer, you will be at the forefront of ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery of goods and services essential for our operations. We are looking for an individual with a keen eye for detail, exceptional negotiation skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving within a fast-paced environment.

This position requires a deep understanding of market trends, supply chain dynamics, and regulatory compliance. You will be responsible for end-to-end procurement activities, from identifying needs and conducting market research to negotiating contracts and managing supplier performance. You will play a crucial role in developing and implementing procurement strategies that align with our company’s objectives, driving efficiencies, and contributing to our overall financial health. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage procurement strategies to ensure cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Source, evaluate, and select suppliers based on price, quality, delivery, and service.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers to achieve the best possible outcomes.
  • Manage and maintain strong relationships with key vendors, fostering collaboration and performance improvement.
  • Monitor supplier performance against agreed-upon SLAs and KPIs, addressing any issues proactively.
  • Prepare and process purchase orders and requisitions in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct market research to identify new products, services, and suppliers, and stay abreast of industry trends.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant procurement policies, legal requirements, and ethical standards.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to understand their procurement needs and provide effective solutions.
  • Analyse spending patterns and identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and other important data.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects aimed at enhancing overall supply chain performance.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Procurement Officer or in a similar role within supply chain management.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Solid understanding of supply chain management principles and best practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) qualification or working towards it.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience with ERP systems and e-procurement platforms.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and compliance standards.
