Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of claims specialists, ensuring high performance and adherence to service level agreements.
  • Oversee the entire claims lifecycle, from initial report to final settlement, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve claims handling efficiency, reduce processing times, and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct complex claims investigations, including reviewing documentation, interviewing parties, and liaising with external experts.
  • Manage a portfolio of high-value or intricate claims, providing expert guidance and resolving disputes effectively.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with claims, collaborating with legal and underwriting departments.
  • Analyze claims data to identify trends, report on key performance indicators, and provide strategic recommendations to senior management.
  • Ensure accurate reserve setting and financial reporting related to claims.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices, regulatory changes, and emerging claims technologies.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in claims management, preferably within the insurance or financial services sector.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Proficiency in claims management software and MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of claims processes, policies, and relevant legal/regulatory frameworks.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Fluency in German and English (both written and spoken).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Law, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in claims (e.g., CPCU, AIC, P&C).
  • Experience with process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Familiarity with international claims handling best practices.
