Key Responsibilities

  • Administer medication safely and accurately as prescribed by healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medication records, ensuring compliance with all regulatory guidelines.
  • Monitor service users for adverse reactions or side effects to medication and report any concerns promptly.
  • Assist service users with personal care and daily living activities as required.
  • Communicate effectively and empathetically with service users, their families, and the wider healthcare team.
  • Adhere strictly to all medication policies, procedures, and relevant healthcare regulations (e.g., CQC).
  • Participate actively in all mandatory training and continuous professional development programs.
  • Report any concerns regarding service user health or medication to the appropriate supervisor or medical professional.
  • Ensure the safekeeping, proper storage, and appropriate disposal of all medications.
  • Uphold the dignity, privacy, and independence of all service users at all times.

Required Skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (volunteer or paid) in a care setting, even if not directly involving medication.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care (or actively working towards a similar qualification).
  • Basic knowledge of first aid and emergency procedures.
  • Understanding of relevant care quality commission (CQC) regulations and standards.
