Job Description
Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled and proactive Health & Safety Officer to join our professional team, dedicated to ensuring impeccable safety standards across our industrial estate operations in Black River, St. Elizabeth. This critical role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring comprehensive health and safety programs designed to protect our workforce, assets, and the environment. You will be instrumental in fostering a strong safety culture, conducting risk assessments, ensuring compliance with all local and international regulations, and driving continuous improvement in our safety performance.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) management systems and procedures for the industrial estate.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, non-compliance, and areas for improvement, documenting findings and corrective actions.
- Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near-misses, determining root causes and recommending preventative measures.
- Ensure strict compliance with all local HSE legislation, codes of practice, and industry standards.
- Deliver engaging safety training and awareness programs to all employees and contractors.
- Prepare and submit comprehensive HSE reports, including performance metrics, incident summaries, and compliance status.
- Manage emergency response plans and conduct drills to ensure preparedness for various scenarios.
- Advise management on new or updated safety regulations and best practices.
Required Skills
- Certified in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA, IOSH)
- Proficiency in risk assessment methodologies and hazard analysis
- Strong understanding of Jamaican HSE legislation and international standards
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to conduct effective safety training programs
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Experience working within a manufacturing, logistics, or heavy industrial environment
- Familiarity with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems
- First Aid and CPR certification
