Job Description

Farmec is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Welding Fabricator to join our dynamic team in Centenary, Mashonaland Central Province. This is a pivotal role for an individual with a passion for precision, a strong understanding of metalwork, and a commitment to quality craftsmanship. As a Welding Fabricator, you will be instrumental in the repair, maintenance, and fabrication of essential agricultural machinery and equipment that underpins the productivity of local farms. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve interpreting complex blueprints, selecting appropriate materials, executing various welding processes with expertise, and meticulously fabricating components to exact specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform various welding processes, including MIG, TIG, and Arc welding, on a range of metals (steel, stainless steel, aluminum) with high precision.
  • Read and accurately interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine layout, sequence of operations, and required materials.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and repair metal structures and components for agricultural machinery and equipment.
  • Cut, grind, and shape metal materials using appropriate tools and machinery.
  • Inspect finished products and structures for quality, conformity to specifications, and adherence to safety standards.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and calibration of welding equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols and industry regulations.
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and other team members to ensure project completion within deadlines.
  • Identify and resolve fabrication challenges, suggesting innovative solutions to improve efficiency and product quality.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Arc)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
  • Strong understanding of metal properties and fabrication processes
  • Knowledge of safety standards and practices in a workshop environment
  • Excellent spatial reasoning and problem-solving skills
  • Physical dexterity and stamina for demanding tasks

Preferred Qualifications

  • Trade certificate or diploma in Welding, Fabrication, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience as a Welding Fabricator, preferably in an agricultural or heavy machinery setting
  • Experience with operating various workshop machinery (e.g., grinders, drills, plasma cutters)
  • Valid driver's license
