Job Description
Avani Gaborone Resort & Casino, a premier destination in Botswana’s capital, is seeking a dedicated and meticulous Laundry Worker to join our vibrant Hotel Services team. As a crucial member of our back-of-house operations, you will play an indispensable role in upholding the exceptional standards of cleanliness and hygiene that our guests expect and deserve. This full-time position requires an individual who is committed to ensuring all hotel linens, guest laundry, and staff uniforms are impeccably cleaned, pressed, and maintained. Working within our state-of-the-art laundry facility, you will be responsible for the entire laundry process, from initial sorting and washing to drying, ironing, and meticulous folding. Your keen eye for detail will be essential in identifying and treating stains effectively, ensuring every item meets our rigorous quality benchmarks. You will operate various industrial laundry machines, including washers, dryers, and ironers, adhering strictly to manufacturer guidelines and safety protocols. Understanding the proper use of detergents and chemicals for different fabric types will be key to preventing damage and prolonging the life of our textiles. This role is more than just processing laundry; it’s about contributing to the overall guest experience by providing fresh, clean, and well-presented items that enhance comfort and satisfaction. You will work collaboratively with other hotel departments, including Housekeeping and Food & Beverage, to ensure a seamless supply of clean linen. Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe laundry environment will be a continuous responsibility, requiring regular cleaning of machinery and workspace. Key Responsibilities
- Sort all laundry items, including guest linens, towels, uniforms, and guest personal laundry, according to fabric type, colour, and soil level.
- Operate commercial washing machines, dryers, and ironing equipment safely and efficiently.
- Inspect items for stains or damage before and after washing, applying appropriate stain removal techniques.
- Fold, stack, and organise clean laundry neatly for distribution to various hotel departments and guest rooms.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the laundry area, including machinery, floors, and storage shelves.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and hygiene standards and procedures.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, maintenance issues, or supply shortages to the supervisor promptly.
- Assist with inventory management of laundry supplies and linens.
- Support other hotel service teams as needed, particularly during peak periods.
