Job Description
Career.zycto is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Drilling Supervisor to oversee our clients’ drilling operations within the UN Campus Area of Bonn. As a Drilling Supervisor, you will be the linchpin of on-site activities, ensuring all drilling projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with industry standards, client specifications, and environmental regulations. This pivotal role requires a hands-on leader capable of managing diverse teams, coordinating with various stakeholders, and making critical decisions under pressure.
You will be responsible for the daily supervision of drilling rig activities, including planning, execution, and troubleshooting. Your expertise will be crucial in optimizing drilling performance, implementing cost-effective solutions, and maintaining an impeccable safety record. This position demands a keen eye for detail, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to operational excellence. You will report directly to the Project Manager, providing regular updates on progress, challenges, and resource requirements.
The ideal candidate will possess a profound understanding of drilling techniques, equipment, and well control procedures. You will foster a strong safety culture, conduct regular safety meetings, and ensure all personnel adhere to strict health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols. Furthermore, you will manage logistical aspects, including equipment maintenance, material procurement, and personnel scheduling, to minimize downtime and maximize productivity. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise all aspects of drilling operations on-site, ensuring adherence to the drilling program, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
- Lead and manage drilling crews, fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and teamwork.
- Conduct daily pre-tour meetings, safety briefings, and toolbox talks.
- Monitor drilling parameters, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions promptly.
- Ensure proper maintenance and inspection of drilling equipment and tools.
- Coordinate with service providers, geologists, and engineers to optimize well placement and drilling performance.
- Prepare accurate daily drilling reports, including progress, incidents, and equipment status.
- Manage inventory of drilling consumables and ensure timely procurement.
- Implement and enforce emergency response procedures and well control measures.
- Conduct risk assessments and proactively identify and mitigate hazards.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, local regulations, and client-specific requirements.
Required Skills
- Minimum 8 years of experience in drilling operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of drilling techniques, equipment, and well control principles.
- Valid Well Control certification (IWCF or equivalent).
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in drilling software and reporting tools.
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with various drilling methodologies (e.g., directional drilling, horizontal drilling).
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience working in an international or diverse cultural environment.
- German language proficiency.
