Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Occupational Therapists in the implementation of individualized treatment plans for patients.
  • Guide patients through therapeutic exercises and activities, ensuring proper technique and safety.
  • Monitor and document patient progress, reporting observations and any changes in condition to the supervising OT.
  • Educate patients and their families on adaptive equipment, compensatory strategies, and home exercise programs.
  • Prepare treatment areas, maintain equipment, and ensure a clean, organized, and safe environment.
  • Provide hands-on assistance to patients with daily living activities (ADLs) as per treatment goals.
  • Support administrative tasks such as scheduling, managing client records, and coordinating care.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to case discussions to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Adhere to all professional, ethical, and safety standards and guidelines.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and training opportunities provided by Career.zycto.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong empathy and compassion for patients of all ages and abilities
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated willingness and eagerness to learn and adapt to new concepts and techniques
  • Physical ability to assist patients with transfers and therapeutic exercises

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous volunteer or paid experience in a healthcare setting
  • Completion of post-secondary courses related to health sciences, psychology, or kinesiology
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification
