Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of public health programs and initiatives.
  • Gather, organize, and analyze public health data to support program evaluation and reporting.
  • Prepare and disseminate health education materials, brochures, and presentations to the community.
  • Support community outreach efforts, including organizing and attending health fairs, workshops, and informational sessions.
  • Maintain accurate records and databases related to program participants, activities, and outcomes.
  • Provide administrative support to public health staff, including scheduling meetings, managing correspondence, and preparing reports.
  • Conduct literature reviews and research on public health topics to inform program development and best practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external community partners to achieve public health goals.
  • Respond to public inquiries and provide accurate information on available health services and resources, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

Required Skills

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities for diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) for data management and presentations.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated interest and passion for public health, community development, or related fields.
  • Basic data entry and information management skills with attention to detail.
  • Empathy, cultural sensitivity, and strong interpersonal skills when interacting with diverse community members.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A diploma or degree in Public Health, Health Sciences, Social Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Volunteer or internship experience in a community health or public health setting.
  • Familiarity with foundational public health principles and terminology.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is considered a significant asset in the Ottawa region.
  • Experience with survey tools (e.g., SurveyMonkey, Google Forms) or basic statistical software.
