Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct care, support, and guidance to young people in a residential setting.
- Lead shifts, delegating tasks and providing supervision to junior residential workers.
- Develop, implement, and review individual care plans in collaboration with young people, families, and external agencies.
- Ensure the safety, welfare, and safeguarding of all residents, adhering strictly to company policies and procedures.
- Act as a positive role model, promoting healthy relationships and pro-social behaviour.
- Effectively manage challenging behaviours and crisis situations with professionalism and empathy.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records, reports, and observations.
- Facilitate and participate in educational, recreational, and therapeutic activities.
- Contribute to team meetings, supervision sessions, and professional development training.
- Undertake on-call duties as required to support the residential service.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a residential care setting with young people.
- Demonstrable leadership and mentoring abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- A strong understanding of child protection and safeguarding principles.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Resilience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for young people.
- Proficiency in record-keeping and report writing.
- Full UK Driving License and access to a vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications
- SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent.
- Experience with specific therapeutic approaches (e.g., trauma-informed care, therapeutic crisis intervention).
- First Aid certification.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or senior residential worker role.
