Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of Therapy Assistants, providing guidance and support in their daily duties.
  • Assist qualified therapists in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient treatment programs.
  • Deliver direct patient care, including exercise programs, mobility training, and activities of daily living, as delegated by therapists.
  • Monitor and document patient progress, changes in condition, and responses to therapy, communicating observations effectively to the therapy team.
  • Coordinate therapy schedules, equipment, and resources to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Ensure strict adherence to clinical protocols, safety standards, and infection control policies.
  • Participate actively in multidisciplinary team meetings, contributing to care planning and problem-solving.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organised therapy environment, including inventory management of supplies and equipment.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing referrals, and maintaining patient records.
  • Identify training needs within the Therapy Assistant team and assist in the development and delivery of in-service training sessions.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years of proven experience as a Therapy Assistant or in a similar healthcare support role.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory capabilities, with experience in guiding a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact compassionately with patients and professionally with colleagues.
  • Strong understanding of various therapeutic interventions and patient handling techniques.
  • Proficiency in patient record-keeping and basic administrative tasks.
  • Exceptional empathy, patience, and a person-centred approach to care.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Solid knowledge of health and safety guidelines relevant to a clinical setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Health and Social Care, or a related field.
  • Current First Aid and Basic Life Support certification.
  • Previous experience with specific therapy modalities such as neurological rehabilitation, musculoskeletal, or elderly care.
  • Familiarity with clinical software systems for scheduling and patient management.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
