As a Childcare Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of our childcare programmes, contributing directly to a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment for children. Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily childcare activities and programmes, ensuring adherence to safety standards and educational guidelines.
- Support childcare practitioners in their roles, providing guidance and fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Act as a primary point of contact for parents, providing updates on child progress, addressing concerns, and fostering strong home-school partnerships.
- Manage administrative tasks including scheduling, record-keeping, and maintaining children's files with accuracy and confidentiality.
- Ensure the childcare environment is clean, safe, and engaging for all children, conducting regular checks and addressing any issues promptly.
- Assist in the development and implementation of age-appropriate curriculum activities that promote physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development.
- Facilitate conflict resolution among children and promote positive behaviour through consistent and nurturing guidance.
- Participate actively in ongoing training sessions and professional development workshops to enhance skills and knowledge in early years education and childcare management.
- Monitor inventory of supplies and equipment, coordinating procurement as needed to maintain programme resources.
Required Skills
- A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail for managing schedules, records, and programme logistics.
- A proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to learn quickly and thrive in a dynamic environment.
- Basic computer literacy for administrative tasks and record-keeping.
- Patience, empathy, and a nurturing disposition.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (paid or voluntary) in a childcare setting or working with young children.
- An SQA qualification in Social Services (Children and Young People), SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People), or equivalent.
- Knowledge of early years' development stages and educational frameworks.
- First Aid certification (training will be provided if not held).
