Career.zycto is actively seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Care Assistant Manager to join our esteemed team in Lochend, Edinburgh. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Residential Care Manager in the day-to-day management and operation of the care home.
  • Supervise, lead, and mentor care staff, including conducting appraisals, supervisions, and facilitating training.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care that meets the individual needs and preferences of residents.
  • Support the development and implementation of care plans, regularly reviewing and updating them.
  • Oversee medication management, ensuring safe administration, storage, and record-keeping.
  • Liaise effectively with residents, their families, external healthcare professionals, and regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant care standards, legislation, and company policies (e.g., SSSC, Care Inspectorate).
  • Assist with staff rostering and resource allocation to ensure appropriate staffing levels at all times.
  • Handle concerns, complaints, and incidents in a professional and timely manner, escalating when necessary.
  • Participate in on-call duties and deputise for the Residential Care Manager in their absence.
  • Promote a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for all residents and staff.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a residential care setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of care standards, regulations, and best practices (e.g., Health & Social Care Standards Scotland).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in care planning, assessment, and risk management.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a person-centred approach.
  • Competency in IT, including care management software and Microsoft Office suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SVQ Level 3 or 4 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent (e.g., HNC, Diploma).
  • Registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
  • Experience working with specific client groups (e.g., elderly, dementia, learning disabilities).
  • First Aid at Work certification.
  • Medication administration training and experience.
