Key Responsibilities
- Greet guests warmly upon arrival and escort them to their tables, presenting menus and daily specials.
- Provide detailed information about menu items, ingredients, portion sizes, and preparation methods.
- Take accurate food and beverage orders using a POS system, ensuring all dietary restrictions and special requests are noted.
- Serve food and beverages promptly and efficiently, adhering to all service standards and etiquette.
- Monitor guest satisfaction throughout their meal, promptly addressing any concerns or requests.
- Process guest payments accurately and efficiently, handling cash, credit cards, and room charges.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining areas, including table setup, side stations, and cutlery.
- Collaborate effectively with kitchen staff, bar staff, and other team members to ensure smooth service flow.
- Assist with opening and closing duties, including setting up and breaking down dining areas.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including food hygiene standards.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Waiter/Waitress in a reputable restaurant or hotel.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Knowledge of food and beverage service standards and etiquette.
- Basic mathematical skills for order taking and bill processing.
- Fluency in English and French; Mauritian Creole is an advantage.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, and carry trays for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification or diploma in Hospitality Management or Food & Beverage Service.
- Previous experience in a 4 or 5-star hotel environment.
- Familiarity with various types of cuisine and wine pairings.
- Proficiency in using point-of-sale (POS) systems.
- Additional language proficiency.
