Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet guests warmly upon arrival and escort them to their tables, presenting menus and daily specials.
  • Provide detailed information about menu items, ingredients, portion sizes, and preparation methods.
  • Take accurate food and beverage orders using a POS system, ensuring all dietary restrictions and special requests are noted.
  • Serve food and beverages promptly and efficiently, adhering to all service standards and etiquette.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction throughout their meal, promptly addressing any concerns or requests.
  • Process guest payments accurately and efficiently, handling cash, credit cards, and room charges.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining areas, including table setup, side stations, and cutlery.
  • Collaborate effectively with kitchen staff, bar staff, and other team members to ensure smooth service flow.
  • Assist with opening and closing duties, including setting up and breaking down dining areas.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including food hygiene standards.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Waiter/Waitress in a reputable restaurant or hotel.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Knowledge of food and beverage service standards and etiquette.
  • Basic mathematical skills for order taking and bill processing.
  • Fluency in English and French; Mauritian Creole is an advantage.
  • Physical stamina to stand, walk, and carry trays for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification or diploma in Hospitality Management or Food & Beverage Service.
  • Previous experience in a 4 or 5-star hotel environment.
  • Familiarity with various types of cuisine and wine pairings.
  • Proficiency in using point-of-sale (POS) systems.
  • Additional language proficiency.
