Are you a skilled and safety-conscious Bus Driver looking for a rewarding role ensuring the smooth flow of public transport in Liverpool? Career.zycto is seeking experienced and dedicated Bus Drivers to join our dynamic team, supporting operations on key passenger routes across Allerton Road and wider Liverpool areas. This pivotal role involves more than just driving; it’s about connecting communities, ensuring passenger safety, and upholding the punctuality that our city relies on.
As a Bus Driver, you will be the face of public transport, responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely transportation of passengers. You’ll navigate established routes, strictly adhering to timetables, and providing an exceptional service experience to all commuters. This includes managing passenger ingress and egress, handling fare collection (where applicable), and maintaining a clean and comfortable environment within your vehicle. We’re looking for individuals who possess excellent roadcraft, a calm demeanour under pressure, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and customer service.
You will be entrusted with modern vehicles, equipped with the latest technology to assist with navigation and communication. A thorough understanding of local traffic regulations and a strong geographical knowledge of Liverpool are highly advantageous. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a bus along designated routes and within scheduled timetables.
- Ensure the comfort and safety of all passengers, including vulnerable individuals.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company policies, and relevant regulations (DVSA, VOSA).
- Conduct pre-service and post-service vehicle checks to ensure roadworthiness and report any defects promptly.
- Assist passengers with enquiries, provide accurate information regarding routes, fares, and connections.
- Handle passenger complaints or emergencies with professionalism and follow established protocols.
- Operate ticketing equipment, process fares, and provide change accurately (if required).
- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the vehicle throughout the shift.
- Communicate effectively with depot staff, control room, and colleagues.
- Complete all necessary paperwork and records accurately and efficiently.
Required Skills
- Valid UK PCV (Category D) driving license with no more than 3 penalty points.
- Valid Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) qualification.
- Excellent driving record with a strong emphasis on safety.
- Proven customer service skills and a polite, approachable manner.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good understanding of road safety and traffic regulations.
- Punctual and reliable with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to handle unexpected situations calmly and effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a bus driver in a passenger transport setting.
- Good geographical knowledge of Liverpool and surrounding areas.
- Experience with electronic ticketing systems.
- First Aid certification.
- NVQ in Passenger Transport or equivalent qualification.
