Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Care Home Night Coordinator to join our esteemed client’s team, working primarily night shifts at a compassionate care home situated near the scenic Calton Hill in Edinburgh. This pivotal role requires a leader who can ensure the highest standards of care are maintained throughout the night, providing peace of mind to residents and their families. As a Night Coordinator, you will be instrumental in overseeing the nightly operations, managing care staff, and responding to residents’ needs with professionalism and empathy. You will be the point person for all clinical and operational matters during your shift, making critical decisions and supporting your team to deliver outstanding person-centred care.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the care staff on duty during the night shift, ensuring adequate staffing levels and skill mix.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all residents, staff, and emergency services during the night.
- Ensure all residents receive person-centred care according to their individual care plans, respecting their dignity and promoting independence.
- Administer medication safely and accurately, adhering to all policies and procedures.
- Respond promptly and effectively to any emergencies, incidents, or changes in residents' conditions.
- Maintain accurate and detailed care records, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Provide leadership, support, and supervision to care staff, including mentoring and performance monitoring.
- Conduct regular checks on residents throughout the night to ensure their comfort, safety, and well-being.
- Collaborate with the day team to ensure seamless handovers and continuity of care.
- Ensure the care home environment remains safe, clean, and compliant with health and safety regulations.
Required Skills
- SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent
- Proven experience in a senior care role, preferably in a residential or nursing home setting
- Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong understanding of care standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., Care Inspectorate Scotland)
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure
- Proficiency in medication management and administration
- First Aid certification
- Enhanced DBS/PVG check
Preferred Qualifications
- SVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care or Registered Nurse (Adult) qualification
- Experience with electronic care planning systems
- Additional training in dementia care or palliative care
- Experience in training and developing care staff
