Job Description

As a Freight Forwarder, your day will be a vibrant mix of strategic planning, meticulous documentation, and proactive problem-solving. You will manage the entire lifecycle of shipments, from initial booking and route optimization to customs clearance and final delivery. This involves close collaboration with a diverse network of carriers, agents, and customs officials, requiring sharp negotiation skills and an unwavering commitment to detail. You’ll become an expert in multimodal transport, understanding the nuances of air, sea, and road freight to select the best solutions for various cargo types and client needs.

You’ll be responsible for preparing and verifying all necessary shipping documentation, including bills of lading, airway bills, customs declarations, and commercial invoices, ensuring strict adherence to international trade regulations and Incoterms. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end international freight forwarding operations via air, sea, and road.
  • Prepare, process, and manage all necessary shipping documentation (e.g., Bills of Lading, Air Waybills, customs declarations, commercial invoices, packing lists).
  • Liaise effectively with clients, carriers, customs brokers, and overseas agents to ensure smooth cargo flow and timely delivery.
  • Ensure strict compliance with international trade regulations, customs procedures, and relevant Incoterms.
  • Track and trace shipments, providing regular updates and proactive communication to clients regarding status and potential delays.
  • Negotiate competitive rates with carriers and service providers to optimize cost-efficiency.
  • Resolve shipping discrepancies, damages, and claims efficiently and professionally.
  • Provide expert advice to clients on shipping regulations, customs requirements, and optimal transport solutions.
  • Maintain accurate records and utilize freight management software for operational efficiency.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in freight forwarding or international logistics.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of international shipping procedures, documentation, and regulatory compliance (HMRC, Incoterms).
  • Proficiency in freight management software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-solving aptitude with a proactive approach to challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A degree or relevant qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or International Trade.
  • Certifications in customs procedures, dangerous goods handling, or specific trade agreements.
  • Multilingual abilities, particularly in languages relevant to global trade.
  • Experience with specific trade lanes or complex commodities.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems for client management.
