Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Cash Office Assistant to join our retail support team in Lavington, Nairobi. This critical role ensures the seamless and accurate handling of all cash transactions, contributing directly to the financial integrity and operational efficiency of our retail outlets. As a Cash Office Assistant, you will be the lynchpin in managing daily cash flow, reconciling sales, and preparing bank deposits, all while adhering to strict security protocols and company policies. Your work will directly support the front-line retail staff, enabling them to focus on providing an exceptional customer experience.

This position requires an individual with a strong foundation in cash handling, basic accounting principles, and a meticulous approach to record-keeping. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily cash reconciliation for all retail tills, ensuring accuracy and accountability.
  • Prepare daily bank deposits and manage the safe custody of cash and other financial instruments.
  • Investigate and resolve any cash discrepancies promptly and report findings to management.
  • Maintain accurate records of all cash movements, deposits, and related financial transactions.
  • Adhere strictly to all company cash handling procedures, security protocols, and internal controls.
  • Assist with periodic cash counts and audits as required.
  • Generate daily, weekly, and monthly cash office reports for management review.
  • Process change orders and ensure adequate float is available for retail operations.
  • Collaborate with retail staff and management to address any cash-related queries or issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and company policies.
  • Manage petty cash disbursements and reconciliation.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in cash handling and reconciliation, preferably within a retail environment.
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
