Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join wood, laminates, and other materials using hand tools and power tools.
  • Construct, install, and repair various wooden structures and fixtures, including furniture, cabinets, doors, window frames, and trim.
  • Perform detailed joinery work for bespoke furniture and custom installations.
  • Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures.
  • Estimate quantities of materials required and ensure efficient use to minimize waste.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with other team members, clients, and contractors.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues that may arise during project execution.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Carpenter with a strong portfolio in woodwork and furniture construction.
  • Proficiency in using a wide range of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Excellent knowledge of woodworking techniques, materials, and finishes.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications accurately.
  • Strong mathematical skills for measurements and calculations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality craftsmanship.
  • Solid understanding of health and safety regulations in a construction/workshop environment.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity for manual tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry and Joinery or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience with bespoke furniture design and construction.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Full UK driving license with access to own transport.
