Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join wood, laminates, and other materials using hand tools and power tools.
- Construct, install, and repair various wooden structures and fixtures, including furniture, cabinets, doors, window frames, and trim.
- Perform detailed joinery work for bespoke furniture and custom installations.
- Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures.
- Estimate quantities of materials required and ensure efficient use to minimize waste.
- Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Collaborate effectively with other team members, clients, and contractors.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues that may arise during project execution.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Carpenter with a strong portfolio in woodwork and furniture construction.
- Proficiency in using a wide range of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Excellent knowledge of woodworking techniques, materials, and finishes.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications accurately.
- Strong mathematical skills for measurements and calculations.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality craftsmanship.
- Solid understanding of health and safety regulations in a construction/workshop environment.
- Physical stamina and dexterity for manual tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry and Joinery or equivalent qualification.
- Experience with bespoke furniture design and construction.
- First Aid certification.
- Full UK driving license with access to own transport.
