Key Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating theatre for surgical procedures, ensuring a sterile and organized environment.
- Assist surgical teams by preparing, cleaning, sterilizing, and maintaining surgical instruments and equipment.
- Anticipate the needs of surgeons and other theatre staff during procedures, passing instruments and supplies efficiently.
- Assist with patient positioning, transfer, and ensuring patient comfort and safety pre- and intra-operatively.
- Adhere strictly to aseptic techniques, infection control policies, and health and safety regulations.
- Manage and maintain surgical equipment, ensuring functionality and promptly reporting any faults.
- Accurately document all relevant information pertaining to surgical procedures and equipment.
- Collaborate effectively with anaesthetists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in the stock management of surgical supplies and consumables.
Required Skills
- Certified Operating Theatre Technician qualification or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in an operating theatre setting.
- In-depth knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and equipment.
- Excellent understanding of aseptic techniques and infection control principles.
- Strong attention to detail and meticulous organizational skills.
- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for team collaboration.
