Key Responsibilities
- Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and other medical devices according to established policies and procedures.
- Operate and maintain sterilizers, washers, and other sterilization equipment, ensuring proper functionality and performing routine quality checks.
- Prepare and package sterile supplies and instrumentation for various departments, ensuring correct labeling and expiration dating.
- Perform biological and chemical indicator testing on sterilizers and document results accurately.
- Maintain precise records of all sterilization processes, including load contents, cycle parameters, and quality assurance results.
- Monitor inventory levels of sterile supplies and reorder as necessary to ensure adequate stock.
- Adhere strictly to all infection control guidelines, safety regulations, and regulatory agency standards.
- Collaborate effectively with surgical staff, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to meet their instrumentation needs.
- Participate in ongoing training and education to stay current with best practices and technological advancements in sterile processing.
- Troubleshoot minor equipment malfunctions and report major issues to appropriate personnel.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of sterilization principles and practices.
