Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the night care team, delegating tasks effectively and ensuring adherence to care plans and company policies.
  • Administer medication safely and accurately, maintaining meticulous records in accordance with CQC regulations.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, including resident falls, medical incidents, and challenging behaviours.
  • Conduct regular rounds, ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of all residents throughout the night.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date care records, incident reports, and communication logs.
  • Provide person-centred care, assisting residents with personal care, mobility, and other needs as required.
  • Support new team members, providing guidance and on-the-job training.
  • Facilitate effective communication during shift handovers to ensure continuity of care.
  • Manage and resolve any issues or concerns that arise during the night shift.
  • Ensure the care environment remains clean, tidy, and safe for residents and staff.

Required Skills

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a senior care role, preferably with night shift experience
  • Proven leadership and supervisory skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Proficient in medication administration and management
  • Strong understanding of CQC regulations and best practice in adult social care
  • Ability to work autonomously and make effective decisions under pressure
  • IT literacy for record-keeping and communication

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care
  • First Aid qualification
  • Experience with electronic care planning systems
  • Advanced dementia care training
