Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Train Conductor in all aspects of train operation, including signalling and switching.
  • Conduct thorough pre-departure and post-arrival inspections of trains and equipment to ensure safety and functionality.
  • Perform coupling and uncoupling of wagons and locomotives with precision and adherence to safety guidelines.
  • Operate track switches and derails as directed, ensuring correct train routing.
  • Communicate effectively and clearly with the conductor, crew members, and control centre using various communication systems.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all railway safety regulations, operational procedures, and company policies.
  • Monitor track conditions, railway infrastructure, and surroundings, reporting any anomalies or hazards promptly.
  • Assist with essential documentation and accurate record-keeping related to train movements, delays, and incidents.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to emergency situations, following established protocols to ensure safety.
  • Maintain a clear and up-to-date understanding of all railway signals, rules, and operational changes.
