Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general grounds maintenance tasks including mowing, strimming, edging, and weeding.
  • Planting, pruning, and caring for shrubs, trees, and floral displays.
  • Maintain hard surfaces, pathways, and car parks, ensuring they are clean and free from debris.
  • Operate and maintain a range of grounds maintenance equipment and machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct routine checks and basic repairs on equipment, reporting any faults.
  • Undertake seasonal tasks such as leaf clearance, gritting, and snow removal.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Assist with waste management and recycling initiatives on site.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding work progress and issues.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in grounds maintenance or a similar outdoor role.
  • Ability to operate grounds maintenance equipment (e.g., mowers, strimmers).
  • Strong understanding of health and safety practices.
  • Good physical stamina and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Reliable, punctual, and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge of horticulture and plant care.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Full UK driving license (or international equivalent recognized in the UK).
  • NVQ Level 2 in Horticulture or Amenity Horticulture (or equivalent qualification).
  • PA1/PA6 certification for pesticide application.
  • Experience with specialist machinery (e.g., chainsaws, compact tractors).
  • Previous experience working in a commercial or large-scale grounds maintenance setting.
