Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Nurse for General and Ward Service to join our dedicated team, serving a diverse patient population within a reputable healthcare facility in Granton, Edinburgh. This vital role involves providing direct patient care, assessing patient needs, developing and implementing care plans, and evaluating patient outcomes in a ward setting. Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients on the ward, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by medical practitioners, ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety protocols.
- Monitor and record vital signs, symptoms, and medical information, promptly reporting any changes or concerns to the medical team.
- Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring a smooth and supportive experience for patients and their families.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring compliance with clinical governance and data protection guidelines.
- Collaborate effectively with doctors, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver integrated, patient-centered care.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and self-care techniques to promote recovery and well-being.
- Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies, demonstrating strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Ensure a safe and clean ward environment, adhering to infection control policies and health and safety regulations.
- Act as a patient advocate, ensuring their dignity, privacy, and rights are respected at all times.
- Participate in ward meetings, training sessions, and continuous professional development initiatives.
Required Skills
- Valid NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) registration
- Proven experience as a Staff Nurse in a general ward setting
- Strong clinical assessment and observation skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Proficiency in administering medications and performing clinical procedures
- Sound knowledge of relevant healthcare policies, procedures, and ethical standards
- Ability to prioritize and manage a demanding workload

- IT literacy for electronic patient record systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or equivalent
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification
