Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Radiographer to join our dynamic Imaging & Scan Operations team in St Leonard’s, Edinburgh. As a Radiographer, you will be integral to our patient care pathway, operating advanced imaging equipment to produce clear, accurate diagnostic images across a range of modalities, including X-ray, Fluoroscopy, and potentially CT/MRI depending on experience and departmental needs. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide range of diagnostic imaging procedures, including X-ray, Fluoroscopy, and potentially CT/MRI, to a high standard.
  • Operate and maintain specialist imaging equipment safely and effectively, ensuring optimal image quality.
  • Accurately position patients for examinations, ensuring their comfort, safety, and dignity throughout the procedure.
  • Verify patient identity, explain procedures clearly, and obtain informed consent.
  • Process, review, and evaluate images for technical quality, ensuring they meet diagnostic standards.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive diagnostic information.
  • Adhere strictly to all radiation safety regulations and protocols, performing quality assurance checks on equipment.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and departmental logs.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, and continuous professional development activities.
  • Provide compassionate patient care, responding to queries and addressing concerns professionally.

Required Skills

  • BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent.
  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Proven experience as a Radiographer in a clinical setting (minimum 2 years post-qualification).
  • Proficiency in operating various diagnostic imaging equipment and modalities.
  • Excellent understanding of radiation protection and safety protocols.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centred approach.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with advanced imaging modalities (e.g., CT, MRI).
  • Evidence of continuous professional development and participation in relevant training.
  • Experience with PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) and RIS (Radiology Information System).
  • Ability to contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives.
