Fundu Lagoon Lodge is seeking a dedicated Hotel Activity Supervisor to join our vibrant team on Pemba Island. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, plan, and execute a comprehensive schedule of daily, weekly, and special event activities for hotel guests, catering to diverse interests and age groups.
  • Supervise and train a team of activity coordinators and guides, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality, engaging, and safe experiences.
  • Maintain all activity equipment (e.g., snorkeling gear, kayaks, bicycles) in excellent condition, overseeing inventory and timely repairs.
  • Work closely with other departments (Front Office, Food & Beverage, Housekeeping) to seamlessly integrate activities into the overall guest experience.
  • Act as a point of contact for guest inquiries regarding activities, providing detailed information and making personalized recommendations.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction with activities, gathering feedback and implementing improvements as necessary to continually enhance the guest journey.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all safety protocols and environmental guidelines during all activities, particularly those involving water or local wildlife.
  • Manage activity bookings, scheduling, and billing accurately using the lodge's reservation system.
  • Assist in creating marketing materials and promotions for new and existing activities to attract and inform guests.
  • Handle any guest complaints or issues related to activities promptly and professionally, turning challenges into opportunities for service excellence.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (3+ years) in a supervisory role within hotel activities, recreation, or guest services, preferably in a resort setting.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities, with a proven track record of managing flexible schedules effectively.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, mentor, and manage a diverse team of activity professionals.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English; proficiency in Swahili is a significant advantage for engaging with local teams and culture.
  • Demonstrated ability to create, implement, and deliver engaging activity programs that cater to a luxury clientele.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (MS Office, booking software) for administrative tasks and scheduling.
  • First Aid and CPR certification or a willingness to obtain within the first three months of employment.
  • A genuine passion for hospitality, nature conservation, and cultural exchange, aligning with the lodge's values.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Hospitality Management, Recreation Management, or a related field.
  • Experience with watersports instruction (e.g., diving, snorkeling, kayaking) or guiding nature tours.
  • In-depth knowledge of local Tanzanian culture, history, and the natural environment of Pemba Island.
  • Prior experience working in a remote or luxury resort setting, understanding the unique operational demands.
  • Additional language proficiency (e.g., French, German) to cater to our diverse international guests.
